ABOUT
WHITNEY
Uncover their strengths, enhance their potential, and watch them thrive
Hello! My name is Whitney Mitchell and I am a dedicated Child Psychologist with a passion for helping children, youth, and their families. With a focus on strength-based assessments, I strive to help uncover the underlying causes of why a child may be having academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of each child's strengths and weaknesses, I help empower parents with valuable insights into their child's learning profile and equip them with effective tools and strategies for skill development and growth.
I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba where I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Psychology at the University of Manitoba (2011). After completing my undergraduate degree, I pursued a Master's of Science degree in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary (2014). Over the past 10 years, I have amassed a wealth of experience in working with children and adolescents in various capacities, including roles as a respite worker, behavioral aide, and psychologist. Notably, I worked as a psychologist for several years for the Calgary Board of Education, further honing my skills and knowledge in supporting children's well-being and educational success.
As a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB), my professional expertise encompasses working with children and youth and conducting psychoeducational and gifted assessments. At Sprout Child Psychology, I apply my expertise to guide parents through the assessment process, providing valuable insights into how their child learns. By offering personalized tools and strategies, I help facilitate skill development and growth, ensuring that parents have a good understanding of the supports their child needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
I look forward to connecting with you to embark on a journey of understanding, growth, and empowerment for your child's well-being and future success.
