Giftedness is defined as an individual achieving in the 98th percentile or higher on an intelligence test. The cognitive or IQ tests that I use are the Wechsler Preschool Primary Scale of Intelligence - Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV) for children under seven years of age, and the Wechsler Scale of Intelligence for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V) for older children and teens.
Some of the common characteristics associated with students who are gifted include:
Advanced intellectual achievement
Verbal proficiency
High motivation and interest
Creativity
Problem-solving ability
Logical thinking
